About me

I first became interested in hypnotherapy when I listened  to some online audios that I found. I found it extremely relaxing and surprisingly effective.

I qualified as a hypnotherapist in 2018, and since then have taken various courses to keep my knowledge up to date. I am particularly excited about the last two courses that I have studied. The first is the Control system – what can I say? This technique is incredible and very effective. It’s unlike traditional hypnotherapy in that you do not go into trance. You can find out more about Control here. The second course that I have recently taken is Hypno for children. As part of this framework, the child client will learn strategies for resilience and leave with a toolkit that will serve them for life. You can find out more about Hypno4Children here.

Obviously qualifications are important, but when choosing any therapist what really matters is if you connect and have rapport. That is one of the reasons why I will always offer a free consultation. But here is a bit about me as a person so you can decide whether you want to make that initial contact, as I know that taking that first step can be quite daunting.

I am extremely empathetic and I have had a lot of life experience. I particularly like working with young people or parents of young people with anxiety. I volunteered for the Young Minds parents helpline for a few years, so am very aware of the range of problems that young people and their parents face.

I’m also a mum of three children, two of whom are now young adults. They are all very different but have all had their challenges at times. I used to struggle when they struggled; I found it so hard not to feel everything they felt. But hypnotherapy has helped me stay calmer and more optimistic during the hard times, which I have found has helped me help them more effectively. How can I help them best if I’m down that hole with them? And this carries through to my work as a hypnotherapist.

I love exercise and have also worked for many years as a personal trainer and fitness instructor specialising in working with post natal and menopausal women. Then just before the pandemic I had knee problems and was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. So I have a wealth of experience about exercise and wellbeing, but just as importantly this experience has helped me relate to people with health or pain issues.

I love all animals, especially dogs and have two of my own, which if you come to me in person you may meet if you wish to. (I can also keep them away if you prefer!) I also love travelling, good films and tv, going to live concerts and good food and wine.

I hope that paints a picture of me so you can start to have an idea of whether you think you would enjoy working with me. I know from my own experience that taking that first step to help is the hardest, so I’m hoping that from this you can see that I am friendly and approachable and will do everything I can to help you feel comfortable.

If you are interested in finding out more, please get in touch. We can have a free consultation either online or in person at my garden room in West Sussex.
