About hypnosis

Hypnosis traditionally involves going into a trance like status. Hypno comes from the Greek "Hypnos" to mean sleep. What it is doing is switching off the logical conscious side of your brain so the hypnotherapist can communicate with the subconscious. The subconscious is where all your belief and thought patterns are stored. So anything that you do or believe automatically; and equally anything that you can’t start doing or can’t start believing.

With the Control system, the remedial hypnotist can also communicate directly with the subconscious but without the client going into trance.

Some objections I hear when talking about hypnosis is the fear of being out of control. Hypnotist stage shows only aggravate that fear, as people associate hypnotism with a controlling egomaniac who likes to make people look silly on stage for laughs. In reality, hypnotism is all about putting you back in control of your own mind. Yes the hypnotist helps, but ultimately it is you taking control of your own mind with your own mind.

Another objection I have heard is “but I like to be in control/I’m strong minded so I don’t know if this will work for me…” When someone says they are strong minded, what they tend to mean is their conscious mind is strong. However these same people will undoubtedly have something they would like to change but can’t, and the reason for that is the belief or behaviour is embedded in their subconscious. Most people think that the conscious part of their mind is the dominant part, whereas really it is the subconscious. How many things can we honestly do well at a time using our conscious minds? Even if we fancy ourselves as brilliant multitaskers it is likely only 2 or 3 at tops. Whereas our subconscious mind is doing hundreds of things all the time. So actually hypnotherapy can be really helpful for those who think they are strong minded, and with the control system they don’t need to go into trance so they can stay aware of everything that happens in the session.

Every treatment plan starts with a free consultation. There are many reasons for this. Firstly it’s to establish whether you want to work with me. It’s also for me to work out if I can help you and the best method for me to use. My preferred method is the control system, as I believe it is super effective and fast. However you may prefer a more traditional hypnotherapy approach. And with children I will also use an integrative approach, helping them build an emotional and mental toolbox for life.

I can never offer guarantees, although the initial free consultation does aim to give a good indicator of success. I will never knowingly take on a case if I don’t believe I have a good chance of helping. Usually with the control system it will take a maximum of three sessions; sometimes it might even be quicker but there are good reasons to have all three sessions which is why with the control system you buy a package. Occasionally it may need more sessions, which we can agree on at the third session if necessary; extra sessions will be charged at a one off rate.

Another benefit of the Control system is that it easily works online - as long as you have a secure internet connection and a device that can be moved so I can see your hands well. As you don't go into trance, even if we lost connection - whilst obviously not ideal - the work would not be lost, and we would be able to simply pick up where we left once reconnected.

Absolutely life changing. After 3 sessions with the lovely Cathy, I genuinely feel like a different person. I was a bit skeptical going in as I’ve had anxiety for 25 years and tried lots of different things but the improvement from this has been incredible. I felt so Cathy during the process. I’m so grateful to her and would highly recommend to anyone considering hypnotherapy with her.

I can highly recommend hypnotherapy with Cathy. Unsure of how effective the sessions would be, I was amazed at how quickly I felt differently about the issue I wanted to curb. Cathy made me feel relaxed, and the environment felt safe and welcoming. The whole process was explained clearly at the start and I found each session beneficial. I would have no hesitation in recommending hypnotherapy as a treatment and Cathy at Happier Hypno in particular.

I had a great experience with Cathy, I found myself very comfortable and relaxed during the sessions. Alongside the hypnotherapy Cathy looked into my vaping habits which helped me to understand more about how my subconscious has an effect on the habit and gave some really useful techniques to help me relieve the cravings. I highly recommend Happier Hypno hypnotherapy.
